Michelle Fiegehen is a British-born, Australian business owner who has made the Philippines her home for over fifteen years. She shares her home with the Kitty Central cats alongside Lyn and Lanie, who have cared for the Kitty Central cats for many years. Together, they have spent many years rescuing, fostering and caring for stray and abandoned cats, many of whom eventually found permanent homes at Kitty Central.
What began as sharing the cats’ daily adventures on the Kitty Central social media pages gradually grew into a loyal international following. Over the years, readers came to know the cats by name and personality – from Pip, the dignified Head Cat, and Chico, the self-appointed Head of Security, to Asha, the glamorous beauty queen, Luna, the long-suffering mother, and the rest of the ever-changing feline family.
Inspired by their personalities and everyday adventures, Michelle created The Kitty Central Diaries, a humorous illustrated series told entirely from the cats’ perspectives. Although fictional, the stories draw heavily on everyday events and the unique personalities of the Kitty Central cats, transforming ordinary household moments into memorable adventures full of humour, warmth and heart.
Today, life at Kitty Central continues to inspire new adventures. Through The Kitty Central Diaries series, Michelle hopes to celebrate the individuality of rescue cats and encourage more people to recognise the beauty, intelligence and remarkable personalities of the local cats that share our communities. Every book purchased also helps support that mission.
